Your First Visit

When you need a Smile

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. A child’s self-concept begins at an early age.

Early diagnosis and treatment can favorably guide the growth of the jaw and facial muscles, minimizing the need for more complex treatment. Patient cooperation is often better before adolescence.

What to look for:

  • crowded teeth
  • overbite
  • missing teeth
  • speech problems
  • snoring
  • extra teeth
  • thumb or finger sucking
  • crossbite
  • recessed or protruding jaw
  • mouth breathing

You’re never too old to Smile

Adults with healthy gums may also be helped by orthodontic treatment. Special considerations are made which include a private room, the availability of clear braces, and flexible appointment times. Then you can smile with confidence.

Treatment for cranial-facial pain and jaw joint problems (TMD-temporomandibular dysfunction) has provided relief for many patients suffering from this condition which is often aggravated by stress.

Invisalign®, clear plastic removable orthodontic appliances, are available for limited and specific use for patients with all permanent teeth.

Nothing to Smile about…Emergencies!

  • Loose band or bracket
  • Loose or broken wires
  • Unusual pain (there will be some discomfort after adjustments)
  • Any concerns of the patient or parent

If any of these occur, it is an EMERGENCY for you and for us. A doctor is always on call. Any of our numbers will connect you with the main office in Westminster.

The advantage of a multi-doctor practice is the availability of one when you need him or her.

We will check your SMILE every 4 to 6 weeks. Please call in advance if an appliance needs to be repaired. This will help us schedule enough time for you and prevent others from waiting. Please give us 24 hours notice if you need to change a scheduled appointment.

Patients make us Smile if they:

  • Keep appointments
  • Brush their teeth and gums properly
  • Avoid hard or sticky foods and excessive soda
  • Wear their appliances, headgear and elastics as directed
  • Visit their General Dentist every six months
